The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has commenced processes to settle outstanding claims owed to private healthcare providers, a statement issued Sunday announced.
The scheme is also calling on the Private Health Facilities Association of Ghana (PHFAoG) to rescind any decision that may compromise access to healthcare for its clients.
A statement signed by Dr. Victor Asare Bampoe, Chief Executive Officer of the NHIA, observed that his outfit acknowledges the critical role private health facilities play in the delivery of healthcare in the country and remains committed to working together to resolve any outstanding issues amicably.
“The NHIA acknowledges the concerns raised by our valued service providers and wishes to reiterate our unwavering commitment to the timely reimbursement of claims. As communicated in our earlier press statement, modalities for the payment of outstanding claims have fully concluded, and disbursement has commenced since Friday, April 4, 2025,” said the statement.
“We wish to reassure all stakeholders, particularly the PHFAoG and its members, that the Authority is in the process of effecting more payments that should clear all outstanding vetted claims and should reflect in the accounts of providers in the coming days. The NHIA remains open to constructive engagement with all stakeholders and urges the PHFAoG to rescind any decision that may compromise access to healthcare for our cherished NHIS members,” added the statement.
The Authority further emphasized that it is focussed on its continued dedication to strengthening partnerships with all service providers while ensuring the sustainability of the scheme.
Members of the Private Health Facilities Association of Ghana issued a statement on Friday threatening to immediately suspend services to the NHIS members due to delayed reimbursement. Enditem
