The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has eulogized former Ghana’s High Commissioner to India, Sam Pee Yalley following his passing on Sunday.
Rt. Hon. Bagbin, was among the first to express condolences to his former party member, describing Yalley as a “brother and friend.”
In a heartfelt tribute shared on social media Monday, the Speaker highlighted Ambassador Yalley’s significant contributions to the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), particularly his role as President of the NDC Professionals Forum.
“Ambassador Yalley was a champion of professionalism in politics and a key figure in our party’s development,” said Rt. Hon. Bagbin.
Sam Pee Yalley, the former Ghanaian High Commissioner to India and a prominent member of the National Democratic Congress, was reported dead on Monday at age 63.
His death, which occurred on Sunday at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, according to sources, has deeply saddened the political and diplomatic community.
While the exact cause of his sudden demise is yet to be confirmed, the news has been met with an outpouring of grief from various political figures.
Ambassador Yalley’s career spanned both legal and diplomatic fields. He was a seasoned lawyer and served as Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the National Pensions Regulatory Authority before being appointed Ghana’s Ambassador to India in 2014 by President John Dramani Mahama during his first term spanning between 2013 and 2017.
