The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has condemned threats of assault by Hopeson Yaovi Adorye against Jennifer Oforiwaa Queen on UTV’s morning programme ‘Adekye Nsoroma”, according to a statement released here Friday.
The statement signed by Richard Ahiagbah, Communications Director for the NPP condemned in no uncertain terms the verbal vituperations by Adorye stressing that such actions against women must not be tolerated considering the significant strides the country has made in its democratic journey.
“We note with concern an incident that occurred on United Television’s (UTV) Adekye Nsoroma morning show on April 17,2025, where a panel member representing Movement for Change, Mr. Hopeson Adorye, threatened to assault Ms. Jennifer Oforiwaa Queen (Deputy Director of Communications) representing the New Patriotic Party,” said the statement.
“We condemn Mr. Adorye’s actions in no uncertain terms. Ghana has made significant strides in driving women’s political participation and amplifying their voices in our national discourse. Therefore, threats of assault or actual assault on women for expressing their political views must not be tolerated,” added the statement.
The NPP emphasized that tolerance has been a key element in the country’s democracy and all efforts must be made to promote tolerance and respect for all.
The party urged UTV and other media houses “to guard against such unprogressive, undemocratic, and primitive conduct on their shows.” Enditem
