Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, on Monday, congratulated Kurt Okraku on his appointment as the Second Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
According to a statement issued here, Hon. Adams described Okraku’s appointment as a proud moment for Ghana, recognising it as a testament to his dedication, leadership, and commitment to the growth of football across the country and the African continent.
He observed that Okraku’s new role would give Ghana an enhanced voice in African football governance and serve as inspiration for a new generation of Ghanaian and African sports leaders to aspire to excellence and global influence.
The Ministry commended Okraku for his visionary initiatives, including the “Catch Them Young” refereeing project, the establishment of zonal football academies, and his support for grassroots talent identification, describing them as foundational steps for the future of Ghana football.
Hon. Adams added that Okraku’s new position presents a fresh opportunity to further renew and develop the domestic game, expressing hope that his leadership will strengthen efforts towards the revitalization of the Ghana Premier League, the empowerment of women’s football, and the nurturing of young talents across the country.
The Ministry pledged its full support to Okraku as he works with stakeholders to uplift African football to new heights and restore Ghana’s preeminence in the global football family.
