The final funeral and burial rites of staunch Asante Kotoko supporter Francis Yaw Frimpong, popularly called Nana Pooley, has been held.
The funeral ceremony, held at the Heroes Park in the Ashanti Regional capital of Kumasi, saw the gathering of lots of sports enthusiasts, administrators and fans.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Edwin-Simeon Okraku and his Vice, Mark Addo led a high-powered delegation to pay their last respect of the staunch Kotoko football fan.
The playing and technical body of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club (SC) were also present at the funeral.
Yaw Frimpong was stabbed to death on February 2 this year in a matchday 19 premier league game between league leaders Kumasi Asante Kotoko and struggling Nsoatreman FC in the Bono region (province).
The incident was reported to have occurred after acts of hooliganism and violence erupted among fans of the two premier league clubs.
Following the incident, the GFA announced putting the next round of premier league matches on hold until further notice on February 3. It also instituted a probe into the incident and banned Nsoatreman FC from playing their home matches at the venue of the incident in the Bono region.
