The recommendations from the National Education Forum (NEF) will guide the government to transform the country’s educational system, this is according to Ghanaian Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang on Thursday.

The VP gave the assurance in the Ghanaian capital of Accra at the closing ceremony of the national educational forum validation conference under the theme “Transforming education for a sustainable future.”

“Your report will be the foundation upon which our educational policies will be shaped and planned to build an inclusive, equitable, and transformative education system for Ghana and for the benefit of all Ghanaians,” said Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyemang.

She further observed that the government recognised the views of all stakeholders in the education space which according to her would help to develop the quality human capital for the nation’s development.

“The forum confirms that education is a shared responsibility and a collective journey that requires all voices, all perspectives, and all hands-on-deck. I want to assure you, members of the committee and all Ghanaians that your recommendations will not gather dust on the shelf,” added the VP.

Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama on February 3 this year constituted an eight-member national education forum planning committee to solicit views for improving the country’s education system.

The committee, was among others, tasked to create a stakeholder activity agenda and develop a comprehensive report detailing findings and recommendations of the review.

The committee is also to draft a national education policy framework and propose an action plan for implementing recommendations.

Members went round the country to solicit and collate views, which they believe, would revolutionise the country’s education system. Enditem
