Fire razes down Labone SHS girls’ dormitory

A fierce fire swept through some girls’ dormitories at Labone Senior High School Sunday afternoon, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has confirmed.

The fire, which affected three of the girls’ dormitories was said to have started when students were out for their prep in the afternoon.

Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the GNFS, ADO 1 Alex King Nartey told the media his outfit had a distress call and dispatched a team to the scene at 1 p.m.

“When we arrived, we discovered that the girl’s dormitory; specifically, the new building was on fire. Out of the six dormitories on the top floor, three were affected. One was completely destroyed while the other two sustained partial damage,” said the Mr. Nartey.

He indicated that the GNFS was yet to determine the exact cause of the fire and that investigations had commence to ascertain the full facts of the incident.

The PRO further observed that no injuries have been reported and the displaced students have been temporarily relocated to the school’s assembly hall in the interim.
