Barely 24 hours after being appointed by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) as the Director-General for Research and Planning of the Ghana Police Service, Commissioner of Police (COP) Maame Yaa Tiwa Addo-Danquah has bee reassigned to the Interior Ministry, this is according to a letter from the Office of the President late Wednesday.
The letter signed by Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President observed that COP Tiwaa has been re-assigned to serve as the Technical Advisor to the Interior Minister.
“I write to formally convey the directive of His Excellency the President regarding your reassignment. In line with this directive, you are hereby reassigned from your current position to the Ministry of the Interior, where you will serve as the Technical Advisor to the Honourable Minister. This reassignment takes immediate effect, and you are hereby expected to liaise with the relevant authorities to ensure a smooth transition into your new role,” said the letter.
It added, “His Excellency the President recognises and deeply appreciates your unwavering dedication, professionalism, and invaluable contributions to the nation. It is this firm belief that your expertise and commitment will continue to serve the country effectively in your new capacity.”
The IGP, Christian Tetteh Yohuno on Wednesday announced the appointment of COP Mrs. Maame Tiwaa Addo-Danquah as the Director-General in charge of Research and Planning within the Ghana Police Service.
According to a statement signed by Director of Public Affairs, ACP/Mrs Grace Ansah-Akrofi, the appointment of COP Tiwa Addo-Danquah, together with 30 others, were to ensure effective management and operational control of the service.
“The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno has today, 19th March, 2025 made the following command changes to ensure effective management and operational control of the Ghana Police Service,” said the statement.
Until her appointment into the new role, COP Maame Yaa Tiwa Addo-Danquah was the Executive Director of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
She is also the first female of the Ghana Police Command and Staff College (GPCSC), Winneba. COP Tiwa Addo-Danquah was recruited into the Ghana Police Service on July 27, 1990. Enditem
