Ghana thrash Chad 5-0 in 2026 FIFA WC qualifier

Ghana’s male football national team, the Black Stars put up a dominant performance to beat Chad 5-0 in matchday five of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier at the Accra Sports late Friday.

Having failed to secure qualification to the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON), the Black Stars were on a redemption mission and so head coach Otto Addo assembled his best arsenals including Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus, Inaki Williams, Jordan Ayew and Antoine Semenyo among others.

Ghana commenced the match by making their intentions clear of picking all three points on the day and their efforts were paid off in the early minutes of the match when Bournemouth’s striker Antoine Semenyo found the opener in the second minute.

The Black Stars did not relent on their efforts and kept the heat on their opponent paving the way for Inaki Williams and Jordan Ayew to score the second and third goals in the 32nd and 43rd minutes respectively.

The scoreline remained so till the end of the first half.

Back from recess, Ghana kept their foot on the pedal, leading to finding the net for the fourth time through Monaco’s Mohammed Salisu in the 56th minute.

Ernest Nuamah scored the fifth and final goal for the West African country in the 69th minute after receiving a pass from Ayew.

With the win, Ghana now tops the league log in Group I with 12 points and seven goals after five matches.

The team is expected to leave the country for Morocco to play the final qualifier against Madagascar on Monday.

A win for Ghana against Madagascar will seal their leadership of Group I and move the team closer to a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification. Enditem
