Former presidential aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Boakye Kyeremanteng Agyarko says the party is veering off course in the party’s ‘Thank You Tour’ currently ongoing, this is according to a statement issued here Monday.
According to Mr. Agyarko, what was supposed to restore the party’s shine and help them touch base with the rank and file of the party has turned out to be an arena of discord, blame-game and internal strife.
This turn of events in the party, he emphasized threatens to inflict serious collateral damage on the party and also eroding the goodwill and trust the NPP has worked hard to cultivate among the Ghanaian people.
“The ongoing ‘Thank You Tour,’ envisioned as a beacon of hope and a rallying point to reignite the spirit of our faithful and supporters, is unfortunately veering off course. What was intended to restore our party’s shine and reconnect us with the grassroots is instead unravelling into bouts of discord, blame-shifting, and internal strife,” said Mr. Agyarko.
He urged the leadership of the NPP to act swiftly and decisively to avert a break in party unity.
“It is time to apply the brakes and reassess the direction of the ‘Thank You Tour.’ We must pull back from what increasingly looks like an imminent collision course and chart path that upholds the unity, dignity, and forward-looking spirit of our tradition,” the former aspirant added.
Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the 2024 NPP president candidate during the party’s ‘Thank You Tour’ last week cited arrogance, high cost of living, the haircut policy, and the introduction of the E-levy by the then government contributed to the party’s defeat in the general election.
In a sharp response, Palgrave Boakye Danquah, former Government Spokesperson under the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s administration criticised Dr. Bawumia for blaming everybody apart from himself for their defeat. Enditem
