May 1 declared holiday, Ghanaian workers mark first celebration under Mahama

The Ministry of Interior has announced May 1 is a statutory public holiday in the country, this is according to a statement signed by Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak on Friday.

The minister asked the general public to observe the day as such throughout the country.

“The general public is hereby informed that Thursday, 1st May 2025, marks May Day (Workers Day), which is a Statutory Public Holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country,” said the statement.

The 2025 May Day celebration is the first to be held under the second term of President John Dramani Mahama.

Ghanaian workers are therefore looking to hear major policy shifts that will improve their living conditions from the government. Enditem
