Founding President of the Ghana Morocco Old Students Association (GHAMOSA), Peter Panyin Anaman has said North African country, Morocco is open and friendly to black people and Africans.
According to him, the negative propaganda towards Morocco is nothing but lies orchestrated to paint the country black.
“As a Ghanaian who had the privilege of studying in Morocco, I was appalled to hear the baseless claims circulating about the treatment of black people in Morocco. The allegations that over 700 black people have been killed and that Morocco has declared it doesn’t want any black people in the country are nothing but a big lie,” said Anaman.
He observed that his time in Morocco exposed him to the unique culture, warm hospitality, and a deep sense of community as he lived and studied with Moroccans and other international students, coexisting peacefully, as well as learning from each other and building lasting friendships.
“Morocco, like any other country, has its challenges, but racism and xenophobia are not inherent to the Moroccan society. Morocco has a long history of cultural diversity, tolerance, and cooperation with African nations,” Anaman stated.
The founding President of GHAMOSA warned against misinformation as it has the potential to mar diplomatic ties among countries.
“It is essential to be cautious of misinformation and to verify facts before spreading them. Such false claims can damage relations between nations, fuel hatred, and cause unnecessary fear and anxiety” he added. As someone who has experienced the beauty of Moroccan culture first-hand, I urge people to look beyond the lies and to get to know the real Morocco, he further stated.
Anaman urged understanding, respect, and cooperation among nations, rather than spreading misinformation and fuelling division. Enditem
